After all, the treetops are home to many species of birds let's not disturb them too much. Take only the essentials and try not to generate too much rubbish. Save water and energy, which is often generated from organic sources in such cabins.

When your Google Maps navigation starts to go crazy and your hosts tell you to turn off onto a forest road by a large stone, you can be sure it's going to be a successful trip. Cottages in the forest have been a hit in the last few years and are appearing on the tourist map of Poland like mushrooms after the rain. And we are personally delighted; the more places like this, the better. Often far away from other buildings, they have nothing but trees around them. You can drink your morning coffee on the terrace or step barefoot onto the dew-wet grass. You can go for a walk, but you can also spend the day in bed, reading a book. These are 'can-do' places.

The time of year is irrelevant here, because there is plenty to do in both summer and winter. You can play board games, read a long-overdue book, listen to the birds or watch the treetops swaying in the wind. Formally, there is no prohibition in Poland on pitching tents "in the wild", i.e. outside camping grounds, but in practice, however, the matter is not so simple. The land on which we pitch our tent almost certainly belongs to someone, and the owner has the right to decide whether we can spend the night there. It is also worth noting that camping in nature reserves, national parks, forests and beaches is prohibited, which means that there are relatively few places where we can safely pitch a tent.

On the other hand, there are interesting camping and tent sites in Poland, far from buildings, often by a lake or on the edge of a forest. In such places, time seems to have stopped, and that was a good 40 years ago, when the use of paper maps was popular.
