SURROUNDINGS DDG Retreat is located on the coast of the Costa del Sol, 500 meters above the sea, on the outskirts of one of the most picturesque Pueblo Blanco - Casares. The nearest airports are Malaga and Gibraltar. For those who enjoy driving along mountains with stunning sea views, the local roads from the coast to El Retiro can be quite exciting. During autumn and spring, the nights can be a bit chilly with an occasional light wind so it is a good idea to pack some sweaters to take with you! DDG Retreat is about an hour's drive from Malaga airport. It is less than 15 minutes from the nearest beach and a half hour drive from Marbella. It is also a good starting point for day trips to explore some of the region's many attractions: the Moorish city of Ronda, with its spectacular gorge; Tarifa, a popular destination for wind sports; Malaga, a historic and culturally rich city with an impressive number of museums; Granada, with its beautiful examples of medieval architecture and hilltop fortress; and the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, with its world-famous Rock. Further afield is the Roman city of Cordoba and also Seville, famous for flamenco dancing, as well as for its great history and architecture. For the more active guests, there is also golf, boat trips, hiking, cycling and, for birdwatchers, the Retiro is well placed for spotting rare birds flying over the nearby cliffs.
