The fire station garage is part of our project "Obst & Sterne": Rensow is located in the Mecklenburg Parkland and Sternenpark M-V. Due to the low light pollution, the view of the night sky is unclouded and a true starry paradise. We have planted a meadow orchard on 0.5 hectares on our remaining farm in the village. In 2019, we took over the old fire station garage and the 1,500 square meters of land belonging to it, located directly on the fire pond in Rensow, and transformed it into a very special place! The fire station was renovated and extended while retaining its industrial character: On the first floor is the living area with kitchen block as well as bathroom and separate WC. The gallery with sleeping area is reached via a tango staircase (cave: the staircase is not suitable for people with walking difficulties! A spacious terrace with a view adjoins the fire station. We used almost exclusively historical building materials from the village during the renovation in order to preserve the rustic character of the fire station. From the fire station you have a direct view of the historic manor house and park. Rensow is approx. 2.5 hours' drive from Berlin and Hamburg. It can be reached via the A20 from Hamburg/Berlin or the A19 from Berlin. Important notice: As a converted fire station garage, the project space is essentially an industrial building. Rough, uneven concrete walls and brick floors are not as easy to clean as woodchip and laminate flooring. The fire station is located on a 1,500 square meter plot of land with a fire pond. In the countryside, we regularly have flies, bumblebees and spiders visiting. However, raccoons, deer and mice have to stay outside. The project room is of course thoroughly cleaned before their arrival. For organizational reasons, however, it is not always possible for us to carry out the cleaning on the day of their arrival - so it can happen that something has dribbled off the ceiling or wall in the meantime due to the work of our little woodworm family. In this case, the vacuum cleaner is happy to help. In a nutshell: A rustic property in the countryside!
