Floating Apartment

I'll say this. After returning home with my wife, we sat at our usual breakfast table and concluded that it was like a dream, such a different and beautiful experience. Until now, we used to travel abroad every year. This time, it was supposedly just Augustów and the lakes, but nothing could be further from the truth. It was a discovery! Waking up to the sound of birds, with a view of the lake and forest outside the window like a picture. Different every time. In the morning, breakfast on the "terrace", jumping into the water or fishing whenever you want. In the wind and rain, we smiled as we watched people in tents or cramped campers. Despite its compact size, the barge provided very good accommodation for a couple and three children. There was enough water in the shower for a week for 5 people, but we tried to save it to avoid running out. The bottom of the barge is catamaran-like, so it hardly rocks at anchor. Our term included record temperatures in the history of measurements, and we were a bit worried about the lack of air conditioning, but it was enough to simply anchor in deeper water and jump into the lake, to gently cruise around on the engine, and in the evening to drift to a convenient place for the night. As for sailing the barge, due to its size and susceptibility to wind, it requires some planning for maneuvers and time to reach the destination, as well as checking the weather for wind conditions at night. Usually, we moored bow to a tree on the leeward side of a steep bank. This way, at night the barge stood perpendicular to the shore, and you could step out onto the bank from the front. Before arriving or departing, a small briefing with the crew was necessary so they knew what the sequence of events would be, and sometimes we had to make another approach... I'm glad I have a capable wife and the boys are already grown up because sometimes someone had to hold something or push away. What is a captain without a crew? 😉 As for the caretaker, he turned out to be a very warm and pleasant guy, the barrier between us quickly disappeared, and we established good contact. We felt pampered in every way, everything was explained to me, he answered every call and inquiry. We had extra fuel delivered, and when we drifted back to base out of fear of storms, we got an extra ride on the motorboat! A well-deserved 5 stars. Mr. Paweł! Thank you very much! See you!
