The Backcountry Lodge is a wonderful place to relax. We visited for the first time in August for one night and immediately regretted staying so short, so we quickly made reservations for another trip. We recently returned from our second visit to the Bacówka Terrain. The tranquility there, combined with the view of the Tatra Mountains, is a truly magical experience. After our stay we felt extremely rested and tranquil. All the necessary things are on site, and we were given a very good liquor and jam as a welcome, which added to the charm of our party. We are only an hour's drive from Turbacz, which makes this place ideal for both those who want to be active and those who prefer to relax in a hammock or by the fire. The ride to Bacówka with Mr. Stefan was a great attraction in itself!

This place is an absolute gem in the mountains! 🌄 As a highlander from a strong family background, raised in tradition and living all my life among these peaks, I myself have always dreamed of spending a night at least once in such a shepherd's hut - the way our grandparents used to live. And here this dream has come true. This shepherd's hut is not only a beautiful, secluded place - it's a return to the true highland roots. A night here was like moving back to the time of Janosik: freedom, silence and real life in the mountains. The hosts? Extremely friendly, with the heart and highland hospitality my grandparents told me about. As a highlander (one with a cormy palate), these gazdi showed me that yet... NO DEATH, THERE ARE THESE MOUNTAINS WHAT DO NOT INO DUTKI, AND THE MAN IS LIKE WHAT HE WANTS FOR THIS CAS... It's not just an overnight stay - it's an experience that stays in the heart forever (and whoever "goes" and brings warm rolls in the morning is ALFA).

History of our shepherd's hut Our shepherd's hut has a long history - it dates back to before World War II. Great-grandfather built a shed on the site to store hay from the surrounding meadows. In 1960, grandfather Wladek transformed it into a simple mountain house - a resting place for family and friends. In 1989 his son-in-law, Stefan, carried out a renovation, enlarging the building and preserving its traditional character. At that time the shepherd's hut began to be visited by scouts from Gdansk, including the late Maciej Plajinski, later Speaker of the Sejm. The place became a symbol of friendship and community for many. In 2016, the shepherd's hut underwent a major renovation - a floor was added, preserving one original wall from before the war. Today it is not only a summer house, but also an important part of our family history, full of memories and traditions that we want to share with future generations. Host Stefan is the heart of the shepherd's hut - he is the one who drives guests to the site in his off-road car, as it is impossible to get there in an ordinary car. Transportation is at an additional cost, but the mountain road ride itself is an attraction in itself! Our shepherd's hut is located in the heart of the Gorce Mountains, in the vicinity of the well-known Gorce Gate and Turbacz - the highest peak of the range. It is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level, on an area of 1 hectare of field and forest, which is fully at the disposal of our guests. It is an ideal place for those who seek silence, nature and exceptional views.
