Hi, we are closed for winter until March 1st! See you then! (Don't follow Google maps!!! Put SANT PRIVAT D'EN BAS in the GPS!!! There is no long dirt road to travel. Several people have ended up far away! ) It is a 70Ha farm dating from 1190, located in the area of La Garrotxa, full of history and beautiful landscapes such as the volcanic area or the ancient villages. It occupies a whole mountain, with 6km of river of clear and drinkable water, as well as wonderful landscapes. You can camp in hundreds of places that travelers can choose freely (Ecovila Amat, 15€). And we have 25 places in our tents of the latest design, of the brands Canvascamp and Tensile for 25€, with the option of complete bedding for 5€ more, all on wooden platforms or suspended in trees. And since 204 a new one, the magnificent Lotus Belle for 100 to 120€ per night, which, with its 40m2 is almost like a house, with a view of the sky. The aim of the farm is to become an eco-village, with a vegetarian project. You can cook some meat or fish in the outside kitchen, but we ask that you try to keep a vegetarian menu. Churrascos and carnivorous barbecues are not allowed; as well as lighting fires between May and October. In the house area there are dry toilets, solar showers or showers heated with a biomeiler, and a large 50m2 self-catering kitchen/dining room, fully equipped for the use of the guests, and another covered space of 30m2. Vegetarian menus can be ordered one day in advance for 15€ (minimum 4), and full breakfasts for 10. Arriving at Sant Privat d'en Bas, you have to continue 1km more to the picnic area dels Pins (or Pla d'en Xurri), where you can park for free (in summer you have to say that you are going to Ca l'Amat to avoid the 5€ of an access barrier). And from there you HAVE TO WALK 1.5 km. If someone comes with accessibility difficulties, or for more than 2 nights, the first day we can pick you up with the jeep. If less than 3 nights, paying the TaxiJeep service, 15€. The idea is to get there on foot, as it is a mid-mountain wildlife refuge. We have received complaints from people who do not like walking. If this is the case, it is better not to come! Just like any other mountain refuge, this is not a normal campsite at the roadside, nor do we want to be! The prices are 15€ per night and person in our own tent (Ecovila Amat), 25€ in our glamping/tipi/safari or suspended tents from 2 to 4 people (Glamping Bas), 20€ in the big shared tipi tent for groups or families (up to 14 people). They come with mattresses and bed covers or mats for the suspended ones, to use with sleeping bag. There is the option of extra sheet, duvet and pillow for 5€ per person and stay. In own tents everyone brings their own sleeping bag and mat, as usual. Unfortunately this year the water from the spring and the river is not drinkable. We have to bring water from the valley, and we have 8 liter jugs for sale here. This is a social and self-managed project, where the lodging helps to finance the whole project, it is not our main activity. The place is wonderful, but we are under construction, sometimes with works in the area of the houses (not in 2024-25). The project is starting only 4 years ago, sometimes we use saws or other machines to do all kinds of works, like wooden chairs or firewood, and we are building more comfortable structures over the years. Whoever wants complete solitude and silence, can find it by camping on terraces that are not too close to the central area. It is not a good place for those who do not like walking or the mountains. And it is a unique and incomparable place for those who do. It is necessary to arrive with at least 2 hours of sunlight. If not, it is very difficult to get there and find your way around. Also, being in the middle of the forest, crossing two rivers without a bridge, you have to watch the weather. With heavy rains access can be difficult or impossible, and there is no jeep service, except for medical emergencies. And if you have already made a reservation, there is no problem in postponing it to another date. The check out to leave the tent free, if it is one of ours, is at 12:00. But apart from that, you can keep your backpacks here and stay until the time you want.
