Description

Welcome to Casa Terra Viva, an old 19th century farmhouse restored in 2022, located in Teo (A Coruña), flooded with light from the rising sun, with centenary furniture, and 15 minutes from Santiago de Compostela and 35 minutes from the beaches. The farm where the house is located, surrounded by a stone wall, is located in a village of few houses in the middle of nature and near the Ulla river. What you can hear the most is the silence. The presence of old ploughs, not only iron but also wood, as well as flax weaving tools, testify to an antiquity of more than 180 years. It is ideal for a person or couple with children who seek the tranquility and relaxation of an isolated rural environment but appreciate the easy access of 5 min drive to the village. This spacious house is divided into two dwellings. The tourist apartment, of 81 m², occupies the east wing of the house, is independent from the rest of the property, and has a 400 m² property for the exclusive use of guests, with fruit trees. It has a private entrance to both the house and the property. Upstairs, loft style, is the master bedroom and a bathroom. Downstairs is the second bedroom with a comfortable sofa bed, kitchen-dining room, a living room with TV and wood-burning fireplace, and a terrace with table, barbecue and sun loungers. On the farm there is a little house (hórreo) for children to play. There is a laundry area common to both houses. Surroundings and activities: - Santiago de Compostela: Strolling leisurely through the old town, tasting wines and tapas or visiting the cathedral are some of the activities worthwhile. Other activities include the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museo do Pobo Galego, numerous art galleries, concerts by the Philharmonic, or cinema and theater in the old Teatro Principal. - Hiking: There are numerous trails of great natural beauty in the vicinity of the Ulla River (natural border between A Coruña and Pontevedra), as well as a multitude of little-frequented paths that interconnect the small villages. - Beaches: The location of the house allows you to choose between the beaches of the Ría de Arousa, 30-45 min away by car (Rianxo, Boiro, A Illa, A Toxa, etc) or the beaches of the Ría de Muros and Noia, 45-60 min away (Testal, Boa, Castro de Baroña, Corrubedo, San Francisco, etc). The river beaches of the Ulla are another option closer (Vila de Cruces, A Estrada, etc). - Birdwatching: The double glazed windows allow us to watch the birds landing in front of the house without them noticing us. When we are lucky enough to see the hoopoe, in nature or with binoculars, its unmistakable movements and plumage are mesmerizing. Almost every night you can hear the white owl, and frequently, see their bodies penetrating the darkness. The car can be parked in front of the house. There is a bus stop about 15 minutes walk to go to the village or to Santiago. But the ideal is to arrive by car to be able to freely enjoy the surroundings and the visits to Santiago, to the beaches, to different cities and parks of Galicia. The village of Pontevea, 5 minutes away, offers supermarkets, pharmacy, restaurants, gas station, etc, and a river beach. The central location of the house will allow you to make daily trips throughout Galicia.

After studying Biology and earning her PhD at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Bibiana obtained a scholarship to study and complete a Masters in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Davis, California. There she learned sensory analysis with Professor Ann Noble, author of the Wine Aroma Wheel. Her enthusiasm for Viticulture took her to Montpellier, the cradle of Viticulture, where she received Viticulture classes from authorities such as Champagnol or Boubals, and Sensory Analysis from Professor Razungles. There she obtained the French Diploma in Oenology and, once in Bordeaux, she worked at the "Grand Crus Classé" Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Bibiana then returned to California, where she worked at wineries in the Sonoma, Napa, Lodi and Clarksburg regions. In her last job at Bogle Winery ("Winery of the Year", Wine Enthusiast, 2019), she was responsible for regularly visiting and advising growers throughout California to ensure that the grapes contracted met the winery's quality requirements. After 30 years in California, he returns to Galicia to restore a 19th-century stone house for tourist lodging.
