Description

MEET US Hello! Behind the Mandrownik Cottage stand us – Iza, Michał, and Nela. We dreamed of a piece of land where one can slow down, breathe, and for a moment leave behind the rush of the city. A place to which one wants to return. Thus, the Mandrownik Cottage was born – our fulfilled dream of a home in the Low Beskids. From the very beginning, we knew we didn’t want to build another modern house. We dreamed of a place that would look as if it had always been a part of this landscape. And that’s how the Mandrownik Cottage was born. A house with a history - Although the house was built from scratch, it was constructed from old wooden logs that we gave a second life. Each piece of wood has its own story. We preserved the natural traces of time, knots, and irregularities, as they are what give this place its character. We didn’t want to create a perfect house. We wanted to create a real home. A home that quietly fits into the landscape of the Low Beskids and looks as if it has stood here for generations. We put a piece of ourselves into it. By profession, I am an interior designer, so from the very beginning, I wanted the interiors to be calm, timeless, and close to nature. Natural wood, linen, muted colors, and subtle red accents referencing traditional tiles appear throughout the house. Everything was meant to harmonize with the surroundings, not compete with them. Michał did a huge part of the work with his own hands. It is thanks to his dedication that the Mandrownik Cottage looks just like this today. Besides building the house, his great passion is motorcycles and vintage automobiles. He likes things with a history – and perhaps that’s why from the very beginning, we both knew we wanted to build with old logs. WHERE DOES THE NAME COME FROM? In Lemko language, "mandrownik" means a wanderer. Someone who traverses the mountains, seeks silence, space, and their own paths. But for us, Mandrownik also means something more. It is someone who loves to set off on a journey but always joyfully returns to a place where they feel good. We wanted to create just such a place. A place that allows you to slow down. The Mandrownik Cottage is located amidst an old orchard, a large garden, and the gentle hills of the Low Beskids. There is a terrace with a jacuzzi, a bonfire area, a pond, and plenty of space. In the evening, you can hear the crickets. In the morning, you are awakened by the singing of birds. And in between, there is the silence that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. You can come with family or friends. You can also come alone. With a book. With a bike. Or without any plan. The Mandrownik Cottage does not play the main role here. It is the backdrop for relaxation, conversations, shared meals, and moments that linger in memory for a long time. EXCLUSIVE HOME The cottage is prepared for a maximum of 7 people. Guests have at their disposal: • three bedrooms bedroom with two single beds, bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, bedroom with a double bed, • two bathrooms, • a spacious living room with a projector, • a fully equipped kitchen. Outside, you will find: jacuzzi, terrace with a view of the hills, bonfire area, grill, pond, playground, large garden. We like to think that the kitchen is the heart of the home. You will find everything you need to prepare a shared breakfast or dinner. And if the weather is nice, just move the table to the terrace. Because in the Low Beskids, everything tastes a little better. Doing nothing is the plan here. You don’t have to organize every minute. You can sit in the jacuzzi. Read a book under the trees of the old orchard, light a bonfire, look at the hills, or simply do nothing. Here, doing nothing makes sense. The Low Beskids is one of the most peaceful corners of the Polish mountains. There are no crowds. No queues on the trails. Instead, there are old churches, forgotten valleys, forests, local craft workshops, and places that have retained their former character. Nearby, there is the Klimkówka reservoir, Hucul horse stables, and numerous hiking and biking trails. In winter, you can reach the Magura Małastowska slope in about 20 minutes. We are happy to suggest our favorite places – the obvious ones and those you won’t read about in guidebooks. FOR THE YOUNGEST Children have space here above all. A large garden, playground, hammocks, and plenty of room to run allow them to play as they used to – without haste and without a ready script. IF YOU HAVE TO WORK There is internet in the house, so you can easily work remotely. But we hope that the computer will be closed for at least a few hours. Because the Mandrownik Cottage was created to remind us that sometimes it’s worth being less available and more present. We believe that the most beautiful places are not those that offer the most attractions, but those from which you leave calmer than when you arrived.
