This cozy self-catering guesthouse on the Alte Salzstraße cycle path has a total of just three completely renovated rooms with a shared lounge. The shared lounge with kitchen also has its own covered terrace. There is a covered storage area for bicycles, where e-bikes can also be charged. Pets are not allowed.  We are happy to invite you to enjoy a simple breakfast consisting of bread rolls to bake yourself, jam, honey and Nutella, vegan spreads, meat spreads, coffee, and tea. Breakfast is free of charge. You just have to prepare it yourself. There are bakeries offering breakfast in Büchen (approx. 3 km away).  The "An der Schleuse" guesthouse is located directly on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, where the Alte Salzstraße cycle path also runs. The Alte Salzstraße cycle path leads from Lüneburg to Lübeck, following the historic salt trade route. It connects the two Hanseatic cities and is 115 kilometers long. The Elbe-Lübeck Canal connects the Elbe near Lauenburg with the Trave in Lübeck over a length of around 60 kilometers. The canal, which was opened in 1900, is the connecting route between the Elbe and the Baltic Sea. Today, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal is used by smaller inland vessels for the transport of bulk goods and for recreational boats. Witzeeze is an idyllic community surrounded by greenery with plenty of nature in the form of cultural landscapes, forests, and natural gravel lakes, as well as a historic village center. Structural changes in agriculture have transformed the original farming village into a cozy place to live with excellent transport links to the cities of Hamburg, Lübeck, and Lüneburg.
