Description
The surrounding beautiful pine forests, abundant in undergrowth, are conducive to hiking, Nordic walking and recreational cycling. Tourists will find numerous bicycle paths and scenic hiking trails. The lake surrounding the peninsula encourages swimming, fishing and water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. With an area of about 1,400 hectares and a maximum depth of 68 meters, Lake Wdzydze is also known as the Kashubian Sea or Great Water, and is one of the largest lakes in the Pomeranian province and a great attraction for sailing enthusiasts. It is shaped like a cross and includes four lakes - Jelenie, Radolne, Golunskie and Wdzydze. It is home to many species of fish, including the unique lake trout, called Wdzydze, which is an endemic species found in natural conditions only in Lake Wdzydze. Many protected animal and bird species also live here. The most valuable of these is the Long-tailed Grasshopper, which nests on the shores of islands and in the bays of Lake Wdzydze. Beavers are also an important part of the fauna. Their feeding grounds can be observed on the promontory of the Lipa Peninsula, and keeping quiet you can often admire these beautiful animals when they swim along the shore in the evening.
