Description
Located in the heart of the Pistoiese Apennines, at approximately 1,000 metres above sea level, the residence the result of a meticulous restoration of a 17th-century building represents one of the oldest examples of stone and wood mountain architecture. It stands on a magnificent plateau, surrounded by woodland and dotted with fruit trees, mostly apple trees. With excellent sun exposure, the structure is dominated by the profiles of wonderful mountains, which crown it on all sides with their ridgelines, offering a breathtaking panorama. "Sasso al Melo" is immersed in nature, yet not far from Cutigliano, a village considered "the pearl of the Pistoiese Mountains" and the most charming medieval hamlet in the area. The nearest locality, close to the property, is the small hamlet of Melo, a quiet frazione of the municipality, where basic necessities can be purchased and which serves as a starting point for numerous excursions. The residence is also just 5 minutes from Doganaccia, a locality on the border between Tuscany and Emilia. Set in a paradisiacal environment, it offers a ski resort in winter, while in summer it provides countless opportunities — from trekking to mountain biking, paragliding, fishing, horse riding, and many other attractions. From Sasso al Melo, Abetone is also easily reachable in around 15 minutes, undoubtedly the most well-known ski resort in Central Italy. The area's offering is further enriched by a packed calendar of events, food festivals, and local celebrations organised throughout every season of the year. It is also worth noting that Tuscany's most beautiful cities Pistoia, Lucca, Florence, Pisa can all be visited as day trips.
