Description
The Smudge got its name somewhat from the beautiful sunsets, but mostly from the local term for the steep, wet meadows between the hills. Smugi Guest House is a seven-bedroom, self-contained house located in the Brodnica Lake District. The year-round building has electric heating and a stylish chrystek wood stove. On the first floor of the house you will find two cozy bedrooms and two bathrooms with showers, as well as a spacious hallway that leads to a balcony. On the first floor, the living area awaits you - an open living room with a kitchenette that flows seamlessly into a terrace with a large table. Plus a bookcase with good books, lots of art on the walls and good wifi. There is a large backyard with a fire pit, playground and direct access to the forest. Meanwhile, just beyond the fence runs a safe, 20-plus-kilometer bike path following the footsteps of a former railroad line. The smudges are located in a shared yard with the property's hosts. It's like having a nice neighbor ready to help you whenever you need it. You can order a breakfast basket and local products on site. On top of that, canoes are available for rent - the Drwęca River is right next door. The hosts run a non-governmental organization: Wybudowania Landscape Initiatives Foundation. They are professionally and passionately involved in local heritage and nature. If you need directions or a guide to the area: you can't come to a better place. And there is plenty to explore. Within walking or biking range awaits: - Brodnica Landscape Park, that is: plenty of wild beaches on lakes scattered among forests, a museum of fishing and folk culture, and above all, excellent bicycle routes; - the rivers Skarlanka, Drwęca and a little farther Wel, which form an extensive water system created for canoeing expeditions; each of these rivers is different and unique; - the Kurza Gora ski resort with snowmaking slopes, an ice rink and a great restaurant; - small and tiny towns like Nowe Miasto Lubawskie, Kurzętnik and nearby Brodnica with their historic and atmospheric sites; - most important: an atmosphere of sustainable recreation in local residents, without destroying the landscape, environment and external capital. You are welcome!
