Description

The Modern Barn in Mutne is a place designed for true relaxation – in peace and quiet, close to nature and far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage is located on a large, 15-acre plot, surrounded by mountains and forest, where instead of neighbors, you can only see wildlife. Thanks to large windows, there is a view of the mountains on one side and the forest on the other, which gives a full sense of privacy and space. The barn is designed for up to 8 people, but it is most comfortable for 6 people. On the ground floor, there is a cozy bedroom with a comfortable 160 x 200 cm bed. The living room connected to the open kitchen offers a 140 x 200 cm sofa bed. On the mezzanine, there are two double beds, ideal for both children and adults. The kitchen is fully equipped and allows you to prepare meals with ease. Guests have access to a large refrigerator, induction hob, kettle, a set of pots, pans, plates, and cutlery, as well as a coffee machine with a supply of fresh beans. You will also always find basic spices, olive oil, and tea here. The bathroom has a comfortable shower, underfloor heating, a hair dryer, liquid soap, and a set of towels, so there is no need to bring your own. The heart of Stodoła is a wooden, illuminated terrace with a view of the mountains – perfect for morning coffee, quiet afternoons, and long evenings. Behind the cottage, there is a place for a bonfire with a grill rack and the possibility of hanging a hammock between the trees. For quieter moments inside, there is a library and board games for children and adults. The area encourages active recreation all year round. Right next to the cottage, there is a trail to Janikowa Grapa. In Korbielów, about a 20-minute drive away, there are numerous ski trails. In Leśna, about 15 minutes away, there is a modern water park, and in Węgierska Górka, about 25 minutes away, there is a water park with a SPA zone. In summer, it is worth visiting Lake Żywieckie or taking advantage of the VeloSoła bicycle route, which runs picturesquely along the Soła River.

The Mutne Barn was a perfect choice. We traveled by car, just the two of us along with our little menagerie of five animals. Let me start by saying that there isn’t easy access to the building, and you have to leave your car down below. At first glance, this might seem like a hassle, but in practice, it means peace and quiet and the certainty that no one will be driving right under our windows. And the distance of about 150 meters you have to walk isn’t that far either. In our case, the lack of traffic also meant greater safety for the dogs (though we had to watch out for the cats, who clearly feel like the masters of the neighborhood...). The cottage itself is located on the outskirts of a village nestled into the surrounding hillsides. We visited the property in April, during the fruit tree blossoming season, which gave the area an extraordinary charm, and the hills resembled green fudge candies with white patches. Combined with the incredible birdsong that echoed almost constantly, it created an amazing effect. The interior of the building isn’t spacious, but it’s very cozy. In our opinion, the cottage should be intended for a maximum of 4 people, but I emphasize—this is our subjective impression. We were very surprised by how well the building retains heat—and given the slightly lower temperatures we encountered, this was very important. The very well-equipped kitchen allows for comfortable meal preparation, but if you don’t like to cook—you can dine at Rudy Rydz, located about 1 km away. (By all means, you can eat saffron milk caps there, though they aren’t available year-round. During the saffron milk cap season, the owner visits his secret spots and personally gathers supplies for guests, which, however, run out around springtime. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough left for us.) Stodoła Mutne is a great place to hide away if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of civilization. However, if you’re looking for a good base to explore nearby attractions, this is also an excellent choice. From Stodoła, you can pop over to Krczma Rzym in Sucha Beskidzka (though, if you’ve ever been tricked into signing the same pact that Twardowski signed, I’d advise against visiting this place ;D), visit the Queen of the Beskids—Babia Góra, take a night trip to Sopotnia Wielka (the first location in Poland and the tenth in Europe with Dark Sky Community status), take a cruise on Lake Żywieckie, visit the so-called Polish Vienna, i.e., Bielsko-Biała (from where you can hike or take the cable car up to Szyndzielnia), go to Koniaków for the famous lace thongs, etc. etc.... In the immediate vicinity of the property (by which I mean within a few minutes’ drive), there is no shortage of picturesque hiking trails that are well-marked (at least the ones we came across), free of crowds, and accessible to people with dogs. I must also mention the host himself, who is very kind and open to the comments and needs of his guests (of course, within reason). We left Stodoła Mutne feeling like we hadn’t had enough and with a firm resolution to return. I think that fact is the best recommendation.

A cozy, well-equipped cottage—a great base for exploring the area. A major plus for dog owners: you don’t have to go far to find a place for your dogs to run around. The host was very responsive and easy to reach—it wasn’t a problem at all that we made our reservation just 4 hours before arrival :)

We are Basia and Darek. The Modern Barn in Mutne was created out of a very personal need – we had long dreamed of a place where we could escape from everyday life. A place without rush, close to nature, with space for silence and wonder. This house is the sum of our time, our own handiwork, our good decisions, and those that taught us something. Every detail here has its own story, because we created this place with our hearts, step by step. If you feel that a home is more than just walls and square footage, if you like places with soul – make yourself comfortable. We will be delighted if you find your moment of peace here.
