Description

At the very end of the Lublin countryside, at the end of Poland, right next to the last wild river in Europe, stands an idyllic wooden house - behind it is only the Bug River, meadows, marshes and forests. This house was put up by my In-laws and it was their beloved place on earth. When, years later, we decided to bring it back to life, the work was a lot. After long hours of cleaning, we sat on the terrace with a sense of duty fulfilled and blissful peace. Then, unexpectedly, the clean glass that stood on the table broke. In fact, it shattered into a fine poppy. To this day we still laugh that it was Basia (my mother-in-law) who let us know that she was glad we had come home and taken care of it. Our wooden cottage, although inconspicuous from the outside, is sizable. It has 120 m², sleeping space for 8 people (for up to 6 adults + 2 children, or in a 2+2 family configuration). To top it off, we have a real Ukrainian spa bath chan (which can serve as a heated pool for children during the day), a veranda with places to relax (a covered part for bad weather and a sunny part), a climbing wall in the attic and a large plot of land with an orchard. We don't have marbles and gold doorknobs here, but there are mosquitoes, it smells like the countryside, and it doesn't even have a store. If you want to buy something from the door-to-door store that glides through the village at noon, you have to hang a commercial on the gate. If you don't make it - you can order lunch from a friendly agritourism, which will drop it off at your door (an option when ordering sets for at least 4 people). The interiors have everything you need, and even a little more, to enjoy a peaceful rest. We decorated the house with care and warmth, using second-hand furniture, because I love to save and restore them. The furnishings also include my great-grandfather's old wooden cabinet or my great-grandmother Aniela's table and bench. If you are not surprised by what a vacation in the countryside entails, and what you need most is respite, seclusion and contact with nature, you will be truly blissful here. And just such people: those who appreciate peace and quiet and have a conscious approach to leisure, we will welcome here with open arms. Come to us as a family or with a bunch of friends, but bachelorette parties and team-building trips are not the local (rural) fairy tale. The surrounding area is abundant with animals: elk, roe deer, foxes, hares, cranes, herons and, of course, storks, which live here on every pole - there are more of them than the residents themselves. On the spruce trees next to the house live "our" squirrels, in the nesting boxes live birds. We live 30km from Uchańka, but we will be happy to come and welcome you on site. You can then ask us about everything - we will be happy to suggest where and how to spend time in the area. The kitchen in our house is quite well equipped, including, among other things, a dishwasher and a capsule coffee maker. However, if no one in the team wanted to cook, we will arrange for you to have dinners from a nearby agritourism. It is located 10 km from the house and delivers food straight to your door, at the time of your choice (option when ordering sets for min 4 people). It will be simple, rural, hearty and very tasty. The cost of a lunch set (depending on the choice of the available option), that is, soup and a second course ranges from 25 to 35zl. They serve such rural delicacies as fresh meat, dumplings (in several varieties) or fillets of tench, perch or carp from their own pond. There is no stationary store in our village, but from Monday to Saturday between 12:00 and 13:00 an ABC door-to-door store (Mr. Andrew in the role of driver and seller) passes through. You can buy all the basic products there. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, on the other hand, there is a minibus with local meat - a treat for the male part of the family (home-made sausages, cold cuts, lard). If you don't manage to catch a mobile store, the nearest store in Dubienka is 4 km away. For fresh eggs it is worth jumping to your neighbor, Mrs. Marysia, and for honey to the nearby Ladenisk. In our Uchańka you will feel like in the old days, during your grandmother's vacations. There are no modern distractions here (no Internet and very poor GSM coverage) and this is the most beautiful thing here. From the monuments in Uchanka itself we have only Kosciuszko Mound, commemorating the battle of Dubienka in 1792. It is rather pointless to make a long list of attractions to tick off, it is better to rely on unhurried spontaneity and discover the area a small piece at a time. You can stroll through the wild Bug River meadows and forests, ride bikes (we have 2-3 for you, free of charge), lounge by the water, go kayaking (in season), stare at the fabulously starry night sky, read books on the veranda or by the fireplace (we have our own library), make evening bonfires, and then sit around until morning and talk, it is here that all this and much more is done with great pleasure and without an ounce of compulsion. We also have something extra for you! A tub for hot spa baths (herbal, epsom salt, mud, beer). Another name for this attraction is Ukrainian chan, or witches' cauldron. Thus, it can be said that we are weighing the soup of man here. A handful more details. - 4 km from us is the Husynne lagoon - intimate, with a beach, a pier and a lifeguard in season (it happens that during the week we are the only beachgoers at it) - it's a good place for beachcombing with kids; by car you have 9 minutes over it, and by bicycle, along dirt roads, just 4 km, - Also 4 km, but in the opposite direction from Husynny you will find a beach at the lagoon in Dubinka, - Instead, you are only 200 meters away from the Bug River, - During the spring thaw, when the Bug floods the surrounding meadows, we have a real sea and mangroves here. The floodplain stretches all the way to the horizon! An interesting fact is that the neighboring village - Kolemczyce (with a dizzying number of permanent residents: 2), is then cut off from the world, you can only get there by boat, - Our house stands on an escarpment, at the very end of the village, and you can admire the beautiful oxbow lake every day. If you want to go kayaking, canoeing starts 4 km away (Starosiele), - If you are a fan of wetting a stick, the Bug is a paradise for anglers, - The nearest surroundings are Strzelecki Landscape Park, forests, peat bogs, the Bug valley, there is much to admire, - In a nearby village - Stanislawowka (at a distance of 1.5 km), picturesquely located in a dense forest, there is a horse stud - Chutor Kozaka. Here are organized unforgettable, all-day horseback rides in the Bug valley, off the beaten track (for skilled riders). An amazing experience! - Nearby Kolemczyce, Stanislavovka, Novokayetanovka, Rogatka are also great places for off-road off-road car rides, - Right next to us runs the Bug River bike trail, which is about 300 km long. The trail leads through 5 landscape parks, many nature reserves and protected landscape areas, - Our Uchańka is a good base for exploring the Lublin region: from here you can get to Chelm, Zamosc, Lublin, Roztocze, Polesie National Park, Leczna-Wlodawa Lake District or the Museum in Sobibor, - At a distance of 27 km, we recommend a nature trail in Hniszów, where grows the largest and one of the oldest oak trees in the region, Oak "Bolko". It is 9 meters in circumference and nearly 30 meters high. It was named in memory of Boleslaw the Brave, who traveled with his army across the Polish-Ruthenian borderland on the march to Kiev in the early 11th century. The oak is about 500 years old and grows in a manor park in Hniszów on the Bug River, - 36 kilometers from Uchańko is the Serebryskie Swamp Reserve in Chelm Landscape Park. This is a peat bog reserve in the Chelm Landscape Park, which protects low carbonate peat bogs unique in Europe. The bogs, occupying wetlands on a low-permeable chalky substrate, are overgrown with rare species of plants and animals, and numerous elevations, the so-called "ruddies," are occupied by xerothermic grasslands. Knowledge and curiosities about the forest and peat ecosystems protected within the Chelm Landscape Park are best acquired at the Center for Ecological Education in Brzeźno (26 km). The center, located in the heart of Chelm's Carbonate Marshes, conducts many attractive field classes, excursions and multimedia lectures, dedicated mainly to children and young people. - We know Chelm like the back of our hand and recommend visiting it. First and foremost is Chelm's Cathedral Hill, on its highest elevation is the cathedral complex with the 18th century Pounican Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Next to the cathedral rises a tall bell tower from the 1870s, which can be climbed and offers a panoramic view of the city. Several buildings from the 17th-18th centuries have been preserved throughout the complex, including the Uściługska Gate, the bishops' palace and the Basilian monastery. Chelm is famous for its world-unique Chalk Underground, dug by burghers beneath the city between the 16th and 19th centuries. A 2-kilometer-long section was separated from the multi-story labyrinth of corridors and chambers. The route runs under the city center, including under the Market Square, where it is worth seeing, among other things, the shaft of the Old Town well. In the underground you can meet their legendary ruler - the Spirit of Bieluch! In summer, take a warm sweatshirt or jacket, as there is a constant low temperature. Other than that, it's worth seeing the Baroque Church of the Dissemination of the Holy Apostles, the Orthodox Church of St. John the Theologian, visit the Museum of Chelm Land or ride city bicycles on Chelm Boulevard on the Uherka River. Vacations with us are for those who want to stay, thirsty for proximity to nature, for those who find the idyllic atmosphere relaxing. For those who dream of listening to the cawing of the stork instead of the noise of cars, and for a few moments to disconnect from the gray everyday life.

Our atmospheric wooden cottage in Uchanka was the dream of my in-laws: Basia and Wojtek, of a place to relax in total silence and an asylum for a peaceful retirement. We merely finished what they had started, and made it a bit more civilized in the farmyard (until recently, there wasn't even running water here, and we took the direction of the outcrop for the need). Now there is France-elegance in our Bug land, but without exaggeration and infliction, instead with a wink. Our beloved place has the magical power to heal the soul and body, and has repeatedly saved our overheated brain ganglia during life's most difficult turns. If you also fancy a spa stay in Bugilan, you are more than welcome. We will be happy to share the Bugilan magic.
