Description
It's a place that sits a little higher - literally and figuratively. At an altitude of more than 800 meters above sea level. Amidst wild greenery, at the foot of Mogielica, we have created a space where time slows down and horizons expand. There is an expansive view of the Tatras, Pieniny, Beskidy and Gorce Mountains, and the morning mist moves lazily over the forest, as if the world is in no hurry to go anywhere. We've hidden two houses on a large, private plot - each designed for proximity to nature and discretion. The one you're currently viewing sits slightly higher, offers space for ten people and impresses with a huge terrace, a panoramic living room with a fireplace and an open-air wooden ballroom. The house was born out of a history written in wood - it was reconstructed from three old country cottages whose fate was to be determined. The fir and spruce logs, more than 150 years old, date back to the 19th century and have been carefully joined together to create a new whole with artisan craftsmanship. The facade was made of larch, and the interiors are full of elements from the past - some of the furniture has its own story. Among other things, you'll find an old sewing machine mechanism adapted into a desk, a fragment of an old sleigh converted into a lamp, and a round table where you can sit for hours watching the changing light over the mountains. The house exemplifies a conscious approach to building - recycled materials, local resources and natural insulation techniques were used in its creation. The traditional masonry between the beams was made by hand from planed spruce chips, and many furnishings were found at antique markets, restored and brought back to life. Getting here in winter may require a bit more care - winter tires are a must, and it's a good idea to bring wheel chains with you, as the last section of the road is sometimes cleared of snow late.
