We welcome you to El Granero, a wonderful house just for 2 where you can enjoy your holiday surrounded by the impressive landscape of the Sierra de Montánchez, in Extremadura. The house has been individually created using an attractive and imaginative mix of antique and contemporary furniture, fabrics and unique pieces to achieve a harmonious and welcoming home environment. It is definitely not your typical rental house. Located in a particularly beautiful area of the Sierra de Montánchez; famous for its virgin nature, tranquility and direct access to the old mountain roads and its towns. We also take our green credentials seriously – all houses run efficiently, solar powered and receive spring water from a bore hole. The Sierra is a place full of hiking trails, which vary from easy to challenging. Along the way you will find not only dazzling nature and spectacular views, but also many fascinating and unique features of rural architecture such as: the water mill gorge, numerous rustic hermitages, the Montánchez castle and the wonderful Visigothic basilica of Santa Lucía, located in a remote cork oak forest. Bird watching in particular is a pleasure as there is nothing to disturb them, so many species can be seen in their natural habitat, including the eagle owl on the Sierra cliffs above Finca Al-Manzil.

Finca Al-Manzil has been created over the last 20 years by Pippa and Manfred. First we fell in love with the location, a beautiful farm on the slopes of the Sierra de Montánchez, with views of the dramatic peaks and surrounding olive groves. The houses were created using traditional building methods and materials with a touch of Moroccan art and charm, inspired by many trips to Morocco over the years. We named it finca al-manzil, an arab name to record that this part of Extremadura was inhabited by the Moors for 700 years, leaving many traces in culture and architecture. Pippa worked in interior design for many years, the house is decorated with a collection of ethnic and antique objects that contribute to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You can bring your dogs, maximum 2, there is a supplement of 25 euros per stay per dog. Also a damage deposit of 100 euros which is returned when the house is left in good order at the end of your stay. In winter months there is a fire wood fee of 40 euros if you wish to use the wood burner, there is also a gas heater. These fees must be paid upon arrival.
