Description
My name is La Casa del Ayer, and I have seen centuries pass in this little corner of Ábalos, La Rioja. My ashlar walls have withstood cold winters and mild summers, while my wooden beams creak with every breath of wind coming down from the mountains of Cantabria. Under my kitchen, where for generations people have cooked by the fire of the hearth, I keep a hidden treasure: an openwork excavated in the rock, cool and silent, with the aroma of wine impregnating its walls. It was patiently built, blow by blow, by rough but wise hands that knew the art of preserving wine in perfect darkness. Down there, in the dim light of a candle, agreements have been sealed between harvesters, stories have been told on harvest nights and barrels have been opened to toast to good fortune. Today, I continue to guard my secrets, while in the nearby square you can hear the echoes of a town that, like me, lives and breathes wine. My ashlar walls have withstood cold winters and mild summers, while my wooden beams creak with every breath of wind coming down from the Cantabrian mountains. Under my kitchen, where for generations people have been cooking over the fire, I keep a hidden treasure: a cool, silent, rock-hewn cellar, with the aroma of wine permeating its walls. I invite you to visit my most special refuge: La Alcoba, the master bedroom. Designed for two souls seeking rest, it has a cozy double bed that can be reached by climbing two steps, crowned by a charming canopy that seems to embrace dreams. Adjacent, you will find a private room, perfect for intimate moments, and an en-suite bathroom with a luxurious hydro-massage shower, where every drop transports you to an oasis of relaxation and well-being. The loft, my two-level family retreat. On the first floor, a double bed welcomes you to rest in warmth, while upstairs, another double bed allows you to sleep under the blanket of the stars. In addition, the loft has a cozy room to watch TV and a reading corner, ideal for immersing yourself in stories and dreams. A space designed for the family to enjoy unique moments in an atmosphere full of charm and tradition. And my kitchen, the heart of my first floor. Here, designed to accommodate 6 diners, you will find a modern ceramic hob and a coffee maker that awaken aromas that invite you to start the day. A large wooden table, next to handmade furniture, is witness to countless chats and meetings. Under this warm room, a stone staircase takes you 8 meters to my medieval fretwork, where large stone arches, intact since the sixteenth century, preserve the essence of times past. Every corner of my kitchen tells a story, fusing modernity with my rich tradition.
