Pensieve: do you remember the magical basin from Harry Potter, used for viewing memories, sorting through them, and exploring your thoughts? Similar magical powers are hidden in our home. You’ll create wonderful new memories here, spend time with family or friends, sort out whatever needs sorting in your mind, and, with a little willingness, take a look inside yourself. Pensieve is a secluded place, sheltered on every side by trees, tranquility, and the sounds of nature. You’ll feel as though it’s just you here and the whole world has faded away somewhere in the distance. In a word, you’ll relax! Our cottage is fully furnished and equipped. We offer you the entire house, with a kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed, a bathroom, and two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds. P.S. One of them can be converted, so the room can accommodate 3 people). You’ll find all the necessary kitchen utensils, bed linen, and towels in the house (please bring an extra towel if you’re planning a trip to the lake, or going kayaking or boating. The towels we provide are for use in the house, so please don’t take them on your outings). When you step outside, you can spend time on the covered terrace, where you’ll find a large table with benches, a hammock, and a hanging swing. You can roam around our garden, sunbathe, spend time around the campfire, and barbecue. Pensieve is a lovely, idyllic place, but you won’t find a TV or air conditioning here. On cold days, you’ll need to light the wood-burning stove to make the house pleasantly warm. That said, the house does have a few modern conveniences, such as underfloor heating on the ground floor, a washing machine, dishwasher, oven, and hob. There’s also Wi-Fi, but don’t expect blazing-fast speeds. Internet in places like this can be temperamental 😊 We’re upfront about the downsides: first and foremost, as is common in the Masurian region, mosquitoes. We recommend bringing something to repel these insects because, although we’ve been trying to make friends with them for a long time, it’s a very itchy friendship. Here’s a tip: evenings spent around the campfire help, because mosquitoes aren’t particularly fond of this kind of activity. Mosquitoes aren’t the only animals that have taken a liking to Pensieve. At night, other sounds of nature may wake you: owls, cows, bellowing deer, or hares that occasionally manage to make their way onto the property. It’s also worth mentioning that Pensieve behaves like a typical wooden cottage: sometimes it creaks and groans—in a word, it likes to have a chat. Pensieve is located in the small village of Romany. It’s a quiet, peaceful place with only a few neighbors. Tall trees grow all along the fence around the entire property, so you don’t need to worry about privacy. The road leading to us is used by only a few neighbors, so the sound of cars won’t bother you. All around are fields, forests, and lakes. It’s a wonderful place for hiking, cycling and kayaking trips, or simply unwinding and doing nothing at all. Although the cottage is far from the hustle and bustle, the nearest town is just 3 km away. You can always pop out to pick up something to eat or, if you don’t feel like cooking, drive to one of the many restaurants for lunch. We recommend visiting the smaller shops in Szczytno, where you can buy fish, meat, and other local produce (and believe us, fresh fish like that, thrown on the grill, is something incredible). During mushroom season, we also recommend heading to the nearby woods; it’s hard to come away empty-handed. We also recommend lying on a blanket at night and watching the stars, which shine a million times brighter in places like this.
