During the stillness of the pandemic, we found ourselves drawn to nature. When we came to visit Zerpenschleuse, we were offered several plots to consider — so we brought our dog, Choya, for a walk. She explored them all, then stopped in a quiet clearing… and lay down. That was our decision. Or rather, hers. That clearing is where ABAITA stands today. Choya didn’t live to see the house completed, but in many ways, this place still belongs to her. It has her calm, her instinct. Her peace. Zerpenschleuse is a hidden corner of Brandenburg, full of nature, sky, and quiet. It’s not about attractions or activities, but a deeper rhythm. You can walk along the canal, hear owls at night, or just do nothing at all. It’s a place to exhale. That’s why we chose it. Or maybe… it chose us.
