Description
Located in the heart of the hills of Castellón, just 30 minutes drive from the Mediterranean Sea, a small private road winds through an extensive landscape full of almond and olive trees. This region, with its picturesque medieval villages, could easily be mistaken for a Spanish version of Tuscany. Known for its unique microclimate, the area enjoys abundant sunshine all year round; even winter days can be pleasantly warm. At the center of it all are two villas designed by Dutch artist Xander Spronken. A sculpture? Not quite... a house? Not quite... This Spanish retreat is the culmination of both. It greets you with its multitude of 6-meter-high pillars that don't so much protrude as soar. The villas are made up of large windows that offer magnificent views of the Iberian mountains with the 1,800m high Penyagolosa summit as the centerpiece. Access is through a private gate. The 10 hectare private property consists of two separate houses, each with its own swimming pool. Both houses are equipped with air conditioning, underfloor heating, spacious fitted kitchens, living rooms and two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms each. In addition, the houses are built 100% energy neutral. A sculpture that has no rhythm but details inspired by the ancient Fibonacci sequence. Fifty-four concrete pillars support a roof of old mooring poles that weigh on you and bring back a sense of grounding and rootedness.
